Joshua Straub on Celebrating the 25 Day of Christmas

Even in the midst of a challenging 2020, I believe something that we CAN celebrate is the birth of Christ. Even though many of the things that typically mark the season have been stipped away, I encourage you to use the next month to reconnect with your family and your faith. One of the ways you can do that is by observing Advent.

In this episode you will hear:

  • What Advent is and why it’s important.

  • The story behind 25 Days of the Christmas Story

  • What a “parenting win” looks like in the midst of an overwhelming and busy season.

Key Points:

  • When we numb our negative emotions, when we numb those negative emotions, we also numb the positive ones.

  • When you do an activity or ask kids a question and you make what your teaching comes alive, It triggers the neurological parts of the brain that bring it into an experience.

  • True growth happens when we're thinking, feeling, and relating at the same time.

  • So just spending 20 minutes a day with your children, entering into their world, doing what they want to do is gold for their brain.
