Helping Your Kids Identify Toxic (and Healthy) Friendships

Kids don’t know instinctively what it means to be a good friend. As a result, they ride the rollercoaster of drama-filled friendships and even toxic relationships. This in turn can lead to a lack of confidence, isolation, and worse mental health struggles. As parents, we can equip our children to cultivate good connections with others.

In this episode you’ll hear:

  • What it means to be a good friend.

  • What our kids can look for when choosing a friend.

  • How to identify toxic friends and create healthy distance.

Key Points:

  • Being a good friend requires you to protect your friends.

  • Friendship doesn't just happen organically. It has to be intentional.

  • Kids don’t know instinctively what it means to be a good friend. Sometimes we have to spell it out for them.

  • Find a who's just as much interested in you as they are in themselves.
